List all entries in preliminary ranking order in the "Round 1" Column, with the tenth as a "Bye" if there are only nine. The ranking number of the opponent is given at the right of the column. For example, In the #1 entry first competes with #3. If the lower player defeats the higher, then they swap places for the next round. That is, if #3 wins, then that player is listed as #1 in Round 2, and the original #1 player is listed as #3 in Round 2. Thus, each round continually updates the initial ranking, until it is completed in the last round. After the final round, any two adjacent players in the final ranking who did not play in Round 4 have their rankings swapped to match the last time the actually did play. There is also an optional "Expedite Rule" that no two players can play each other twice; if scheduled to do so, the results of the earlier win are repeated.
